Mike Hurst CPP® CPOI is a seasoned security professional with over 30 years in the business. He is the founder and director of HJA Consult, a company that specializes in executive to senior management level recruitment, strategic consultancy, and event management in the security profession. He has held various volunteer leadership positions, including joint Vice Chair / Chair of the UK Chapter of ASIS International, Director of the Security Institute, and Director of IFPO UK.

Mike has received several awards for his contributions to the security profession, including the ASIS International President's Award of Merit, the ASIS UK Air Commodore Mervyn David Award, and a Lifetime Achievement Award. Recently he was awarded ASIS International Life Membership.  He is a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) and a Certified Protection Officer Instructor (CPOI) and has been recognized, several times as a top global influencer in security management, education, and thought leadership.

Additionally, Mike is an advocate for mental health awareness in the security profession.   He founded Security Minds Matter an initiative to de-stigmatize mental health issues and support those suffering.  He is an Ambassador for the veterans' mental health charity PTSD Resolution.
