<image:title>Content - Your AI Agent Is Your Newest Insider Threat - The researcher received what looked like a routine document, the kind shared daily via email, Slack, or a cloud drive. When they opened it in Anthropic’s Claude Cowork, the AI assistant marketed to general office workers, nothing appeared unusual. But hidden inside, in 1-point white font invisible to the human eye, was a set of instructions exploiting a vulnerability called prompt injection. Claude read them, followed them, and used its file access to upload financial documents containing partial Social Security numbers to an attacker-controlled server. There was no malware or exploit code, and no human authorisation was required. It was an invisible attack: a sentence, written in plain English, that the AI could not distinguish from a legitimate command.</image:title>

<image:title>Content - Where the Law Ends and Responsibility Begins - In recent weeks, the topic of ethics in our profession has come up several times in discussions. Completely unrelated conversations with colleagues from different parts of the world. Yet somehow, the same topic crept in. The conversations reminded me of a phrase I was taught early on at university when one of our lecturers said: “As a security professional, your ethical boundaries are constantly going to be tested, so you'd better know where they are”.</image:title>

<image:title>Content - Security Trends 2026: Deepfakes - Deepfake-enabled fraud is rapidly shifting from isolated scams to coordinated, industrial-scale operations that exploit human trust as much as technology. As organisations look toward 2026, understanding how these threats intersect with social engineering, process failure, and organisational culture is becoming critical. In this edition of our Security Trends for 2026 series, we speak with Aarti Samani, Founder of Shreem Growth Partners, to examine how deepfake fraud is evolving - and what effective, human-centred resilience really looks like.</image:title>

<image:title>Content - Security Trends 2026: Terrorism - The terrorism landscape is becoming more complex and interconnected, shaped by the convergence of ideological threats, hostile state activity, and rapid technological change. As we look toward 2026, the challenge is not only understanding how terrorism is evolving, but how counter-terrorism must adapt in response - across policy, preparedness, and public spaces. In this edition of our Security Outlook 2026 series, Catherine Ling, Head of NaCTSOs Policy and Guidance Dept. explores how terrorism and counter-terrorism are shifting in parallel, what risks are still misunderstood, and what effective readiness looks like as resilience, preparedness, and public awareness take on renewed importance.</image:title>

<image:title>Content - Security Trends 2026: Risk - The security and risk environment is becoming increasingly interconnected, with threats compounding across physical, digital, environmental, and organisational domains. As we look toward 2026, the challenge is less about identifying individual risks and more about understanding how uncertainty, culture, and decision-making shape outcomes under pressure. In this edition of our Security Trends 2026 series, we speak with John Akerele, Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader in Security and Risk Management at University of Portsmouth. Drawing on experience spanning both professional practice and academia, John reflects on why adaptability, human factors, and presilience will matter more than prediction as organisations navigate the years ahead.</image:title>

<image:title>Content - Security Trends 2026: Technology - The security landscape is no longer a collection of cameras and sensors; it is a sophisticated digital ecosystem. As we look toward 2026, the conversation is shifting from what technology can do to how it integrates into the very fabric of enterprise risk and governance. In the first of our Security Trends 2026 series, we sit down with Steven Kenny, ASIS UK Board Director and Manager of the Architecture & Engineering Programme at Axis Communications. With over two decades of experience navigating the intersection of physical and cyber security, Steven argues that the next two years won't be defined by a single "breakthrough" gadget, but by a long-overdue professional maturity.</image:title>

<image:title>Content - Shifting Landscape of Security Recruitment: Trends, Challenges, and Strategies - This article is in part an assessment of where the profession is and its direction of travel, but also some personal thoughts as to where it should be heading, although in recent years, I have tried to use the word ‘should’ less often.</image:title>
<image:caption>The security industry encompasses both physical and cybersecurity sectors and is undergoing many changes. The evolving threat landscape, new technologies, the extra demand of law enforcement organisations and the relatively small size of our military means that there is a high demand for skilled professionals in the private sector to deliver robust security measures.</image:caption>

<image:title>Content - Shifting Landscape of Security Recruitment: Trends, Challenges, and Strategies - Attracting and Retaining Top Talent</image:title>
<image:caption>To succeed in the competitive security recruitment landscape, companies must adopt a strategic approach to attracting and retaining top talent. Here are some practical tips: Develop a strong brand Promote your company values to attract individuals who share them. Offer competitive compensation packages Invest in employee development Foster a positive company culture: Prioritise employee well-being, satisfaction and inclusion to create a supportive work environment. Emphasise work-life balance: Offer flexible work arrangements and encourage employees to maintain a healthy balance between work and personal life. Partner with educational institutions: Collaborate with universities and training providers to develop the next generation of security professionals. Consider non-traditional candidates: Look beyond traditional security backgrounds and consider candidates with transferable skills from other industries. The security industry is facing a complex recruitment landscape, with both employers and candidates trying to stay ahead of changes. Hopefully some of the items touched on in this article can help develop strategy to 1) recruit the people you need on 2) find that next career move. I do feel, strongly, the key to success lies in developing a strong employer brand and that culture is King/Queen (delete as appropriate). If you can get this right, you can build a skilled, motivated and dedicated team that will drive your organisation forward.</image:caption>

While the initial period is set out for six months, it may be extended for another six months.</image:title>

<image:title>Content - The Radicalisation Pipeline No One Wants to Talk About - Over one million VAWG-related crimes were recorded in the UK during 2022/23, accounting for 20% of all police-recorded crime. At least 1 in every 12 women in the UK will be a victim of violence this year alone - and the true number is expected to be much higher due to underreporting.*</image:title>
<image:caption>This is not a fringe issue. This is systemic violence, and it is being actively fueled by a growing online ecosystem that radicalises men against women. The internet was meant to be a space for connection, learning, and progress. <image:title>Content - Security: A Calling Not Just a Career - Passion vs. Profession</image:title>
<image:caption>Finding one’s passion in a line of work is a true gift indeed. Although never attributed to one specific individual, intellectuals like Mark Twain and Confucius are often cited as coming up with the adage: If you love what you do, you never work a day in your life. While this is a wonderful sentiment and blessing for many, there are other careerists who see what they do for a living as more than just an enjoyable physical task - it is something they were either called or destined to fulfill. Even though salary, medical benefits, a 401K, etc., are critical to sustaining a contemporary lifestyle, ascribing one’s career as a calling rather than a profession allows for a richer (and not necessarily monetary) experience.</image:caption>

<image:title>Content - The Pressure is Real, So Should Employer Support Be - It’s no secret that people are under more pressure than ever. The cost of living is rising, workloads are heavier, and world events are increasingly distressing. Employees aren’t walking into work each day as blank slates, they’re bringing the weight of their personal lives, financial stress, and the wider world with them. And yet, too many employers still operate under the assumption that resilience is an individual responsibility rather than an organisational priority.</image:title>
<image:caption>That approach isn’t just outdated, it’s harmful. A burned-out workforce isn’t an effective workforce. A team that feels unsupported will never be fully engaged. And when organisations fail to acknowledge the reality of the pressures their employees are facing, they risk creating an environment where high turnover, absenteeism, and quiet quitting become the norm.</image:caption>
